Matthew Whittall’s The World Tree receives Finnish Music Publishers’ Award
Matthew Whittall’s The World Tree has received the Finnish Music Publishers’ Award in the category Contemporary Small-Scale/Choral Work of the Year.
The 70-minute a cappella work for chamber choir sets texts by British writer Robert Macfarlane and was written for the Helsinki Chamber Choir and conductor Nils Schweckendiek.
The award comes ahead of the release of the first recording of The World Tree. Performed by the Helsinki Chamber Choir under Nils Schweckendiek, the album will be released by BIS Records on 9 October 2026.
