Hannes Seidl composes contemporary music theatre and performance, concert music, installations and electronic music. His work is not bound to a genre: it has been staged at theatre festivals, performing art spaces, galleries and music festivals alike, and shown internationally.

He studied composition at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen from 1998 to 2003 with Nicolaus A. Huber and Th. Neuhaus, and in 2003-2004 with Beat Furrer in Graz. His work has been supported with scholarships from the Darmstadt Summer Courses, the Akademie der Künste Berlin, and the DAAD.

He has worked in electronic music studios including IRCAM (Paris), ZKM (Karslruhe), C.S.C. (Padova), Akademie der Künste (Berlin) and IEM (Graz), and collaborated with ensembles and orchestras across Europe. From 2008 to 2020 he worked closely with video artist Daniel Kötter, a partnership that produced two music theatre trilogies.
